Spilanthes - Oral Health / “Toothache Plant”

Spilanthes, also known as “Buzz Buttons” or the “Toothache Plant”, is a stimulating herb that brings an exciting, tingling sensation to the mouth upon contact. It stimulates the salivary glands and mucus membranes, which increases blood flow as well as saliva production. Spilanthes has been used in traditional medicine for centuries thanks to its pain relieving and anti-inflammatory properties. It has been used to aid in treating gum infections (gingivitis), abscessed tooth, and canker sores, as it has antiseptic, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal properties. It is also a wonderful natural solution for teething babies, as it relieves pain and has numbing effects on the gums. (Always talk to a healthcare professional before giving to children or babies. Contains Alcohol). Aside from oral health, the anti-bacterial properties found in Spilanthes could help to treat strep throat, sore throat, sinusitis, laryngitis, ear infections, UTIs, and food poisoning! Its antifungal properties could help to treat intestinal and vaginal yeast infections, by reducing candida growth and combating against several other fungi. Spilanthes has also been used to treat colds, due to its fever quelling activity which comes from its high flavonoid content. Last but not least, it is also a natural diuretic, which helps the body get rid of excess fluid by stimulating the kidneys, which causes more frequent urination. 

• Suggested dosage for our Spilanthes tincture is 3-4 droppers full, best taken straight or rubbed directly on the gums. May be taken with water if needed. Use up to 4x daily or as needed.
