A Longan is a tropical fruit that is related to the Lychee. It has a round, tan, leathery shell with a sweet, juicy translucent white flesh that surrounds a single black seed.
To eat a Longan, simply peel the outer skin by hand, and then either cut or bite the flesh away from the seed. They are delicious eaten fresh as a snack but can also be canned, dried, or used in smoothies, ice cream, salads, teas, cocktails, or even savory dishes like roasted meats for a sweet and savory balance!
