At Oko'a Farms, we offer a variety of delicious Passion Fruits (Lilikoi), including our regular 'Golden' Lilikoi, our Hard Shell Lilikoi, and our Jamaican Lilikoi.
Our Golden Lilikoi (or Regular Lilikoi) has a bright, zesty profile that can range from very tart to sweet depending on the ripeness of the fruit. The fruit is typically yellow or purple with a tough skin. It has a pulpy, seedy interior - both of which are edible! Its flavor makes it a popular choice for adding to beverages like juices, smoothies, and cocktails, as well as desserts like cakes, ice cream, and fillings. It is also often used to make jams, jellies, syrups, and savory sauces.
Hard Shell Lilikoi is a smaller variety with - you guessed it - a hard shell! So hard in fact, you must use a hammer (or rock, etc) to break into them! They are more creamy inside, and well worth the work to break them open.
Jamaican Lilikoi is known for its soft, orange, fuzzy skin, and is sweeter and more fragrant than the common varieties, sometimes with hints of cantaloupe or melon. It lacks the tartness of regular lilikoi, but is similar in the sense of having a pulpy and seedy interior to enjoy.
