Cacao Pods - lb

A Cacao pod is the large, oblong fruit of the Theobroma Cacao Tree. Each pod contains 30-50 seeds (or cacao beans) covered in a sweet, white, sticky pulp. These pods are the raw product for making chocolate and cocoa! The seeds are fermented, dried, and roasted to begin the chocolate making process.

The pulp around the seeds can be consumed raw or used to make juices, smoothies, sorbet, or jam! The seeds should not be eaten raw as they are too bitter and tough, however once they are processed they can be crushed into Cacao 'Nibs' which are crunchy and chocolatey bits that are packed with antioxidants, fiber, and minerals! They can boost heart health, improve mood (because whose mood doesn't improve with some chocolate?), support brain function, and aid digestion! You can use them as a healthy topping for yogurt, smoothies, oatmeal, or baked into desserts! They are an anti-inflammatory and don't contain the sugar that processed chocolate does, making them a great alternative.
